John Ellis

After a decade of recording and touring with one of South Africa’s most well known bands, Tree 63, Durban singer-songwriter, John Ellis, has finally released his debut solo recording, "Come Out Fighting".

"Come Out Fighting" features the radio single "Own Way Home" along with other powerful tracks such as "Rant", "Come Out Fighting" and "Rebels".

Jan Hoogendyk

Reason are a Johannesburg based 3 piece rock band. They have had the fortunate success of being a support act for Delirious?, Tree63 and have toured SA with Reuben Morgan from Hillsong Australia. They have just tracked a new studio album with Darryl Swart, formerly of Tree63 as producer and are in the process of releasing their first worship EP through Broken Records.

The Ambulants

The Ambulants is a new Christian rock band, but the members are far from new to the music scene. The two brothers, Jake and Tain Odendaal, grew up with a passion for music. They played in church and in different bands from an early age, Jake playing guitar and Tain playing drums. Hodge started playing bass in his teens and also played in church and church based bands. Realizing that they shared similar dreams about where they want to go as musicians they formed The Ambulants and founded Broken Records.

Our Vision

Broken Records is a new independent record label. It was started by three musician friends who had a desire to make a difference in their industry.

The goal of this label is to release music that touches the lives of the people listening to it, to develop the artists that perform the music, & to make a difference in the music industry by being proactive in making changes rather than criticise its ailments. The friends have kept the other facets of the business "in the family", involving close friends and family focusing on the areas of sales, art direction, marketing, design, promotion and more.

The common thread that binds, is their collective fervent passion for music and all things related. Jake, Tain and Hodge's vision is to run an independent label governed by the principles of integrity, the building and maintainence of relationships with their artists, song writers and distributors.

Most of all, to produce and deliver music that is cutting edge and of the highest standard without compromising the artists' vision. Although Broken Records is a new label, these three friends are drawing on the extensive experience that they have gained in studio, in performing live, and touring internationally.
